HOW TO USE AROMA STONE:
Use the aroma stone with pure essential oils, which have different properties depending on the oil: uplifting, calming, antiseptic etc. Add 3–5 drops of essential oil of your choice, repeat after a few hours if desired. It's not as effective as an electric aroma diffuser or humidifier, but more than enough to diffuse essential oils in an average room.
HOW TO USE LAVENDER OIL:
For external use only - toxic if ingested! Use sparingly - essential oils are potent. Try first on a small skin area; allergic reactions are possible. Avoid eye contact, do not use for broken skin or mucous membrane. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use for animals. Essential oils are not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Persons with low blood pressure should exercise caution with this oil and avoid its prolonged use.
Some possible uses:
Insomnia: Add a few drops of lavender oil directly to your bed linen; a cotton handkerchief with a few drops of lavender oil under the pillow is a traditional way to relieve insomnia. You can also use a spray bottle and mix 20 drops of lavender oil and 1dl of water, and spray onto the linen. Let dry. Remember to shake the bottle before every use as essential oils and water don't mix.
Mood swings: Lavender calms the mind and eases out mood swings, resulting in the overall feeling of well-being. Try lavender oil with a SEES aroma stone, in an oil burner or aroma humidifier or diffuser for a calm, serene ambience and to purify the air. Lavender also balances the gut; stress-related gut issues may ease out with lavender oil.
DIY lavender bath salts and sauna: Have a calming bath infused with lavender oil. This relaxing bath is also suitable for children before bedtime. Mix 1dl of Epsom salts and a few drops of lavender oil and use in the bath. Or make your own body wash by mixing 7–10 drops of lavender oil and a generous squirt of neutral, natural liquid soap. In the sauna, you can mix 1–2 drops of lavender oil and a scoop of water and throw on the sauna stove.
DIY lavender skin oil: This oil is suitable for the whole body and ideal for massage. Use the ratio 2 drops of lavender oil to a tablespoon (15ml) of carrier oil (such as SEES Skin Oil No 3, Clean Fragrance Free).
Perfume: For an all natural, chemical-free perfume, mix about 15 drops of lavender oil and 10ml of neutral carrier oil. Use on pulse points, such as wrists and behind the ears. Enjoy the calming effect and feel good.
HOW TO USE CITRUS OIL:
For external use only - toxic if ingested! Use sparingly - essential oils are potent. Try first on a small skin area; allergic reactions are possible. Avoid eye contact, do not use for broken skin or mucous membrane. Sensitisation can occur in some people. As a phototoxic essential oil, do not use on the skin prior to sun exposure. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use for animals. Essential oils are not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Some possible uses:
Room fragrance to refresh and de-stress: Use lemon oil with an aroma diffuser, oil burner or aroma humidifier (even with a regular humidifier providing the instructions allow essential oils). Follow the manufacturer's instructions; in general, about 5 drops of essential oil is a suitable amount.
In the bath and sauna: Mix a few drops of lemon oil and a scoop of water and throw on the sauna stove. In the bath water, use 2–3 drops; note that essential oils and water don't mix, so people with sensitive skins may not be able to use lemon oil undiluted in the bath. In this case, dilute lemon oil with any carrier oil before adding to the bath water.
Skincare: As an antiseptic essential oil, lemon is excellent for skincare. Lemon essential oil balances the skin's oil production. Add a drop of lemon oil to your facial cleanser to clarify the skin and remove dead skin cells. Do not use undiluted on the skin.
DIY natural body scrub and skin oil: With essential oils, it's easy to add your favourite scent to your skincare products. For a body scrub, mix some sugar, olive oil and a few drops of essential oil. To blend your own skin oil, mix some neutral carrier oil (such as SEES Skin Oil No 3, Clean Fragrance Free) and a few drops of essential oil of your choice. For massage and skincare purposes, a suitable ratio is about 20 drops of essential oil to 50ml of carrier oil; for a smaller amount, mix 2–3 drops of lemon oil and a tablespoon (15ml) of carrier oil.
Ambience and focus: Lemon essential oil has a positive effect on the mood and it also helps to focus as it improves circulation. Add 4–6 drops of essential oil to a SEES aroma stone. Have your aroma diffuser around while studying or working and enjoy the stimulating effects of lemon oil.
Cleaning with lemon essential oil
All purpose cleaner: In a spray bottle, mix 1dl of water, 1dl of spirits vinegar and about 20 drops of lemon oil. Spray onto the surface and wipe off with a clean cloth. Shake well before use as essential oils and water don't mix. The spray won't leave a vinegary scent. It will disappear as surfaces dry, leaving them with a fresh, clean scent of lemon oil.
Vacuum cleaner: Add 3–5 drops of lemon oil to a piece of cotton wool and vacuum it. While vacuuming, the lovely fresh scent fills the home.
Kitchen cleaner: Disinfect and give a fresh scent to dishcloths by soaking them in water with several drops of lemon oil. You can also use this method for wooden chopping boards - don't soak for long, though.
Remove glue stains: Lemon essential oil removes glue stains left from stickers. Apply a few drops of lemon oil to cotton wool and rub. Also useful in removing grime and grease from tools and dishes. Be careful with undiluted essential oils; avoid direct contact with the skin.
